KORELASI KEMAMPUAN VISUOSPASIAL DENGAN KADAR TESTOSTERON TOTAL DARAH: STUDI PADA MAHASISWA FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS JENDERAL SOEDIRMAN

Abstract


Kemampuan visuospasial adalah kemampuan untuk mengidentifikasi keterkaitan secara visual dan spasial di antara objek-objek tertentu. Faktor biologi yang mempengaruhi perbedaan kemampuan visuospasial tersebut adalah faktor hormonal, antara lain testosteron, yang berperan dalam perkembangan otak. Peningkatan testosteron postnatal pada masa pubertas juga berperan dalam perkembangan otak. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui korelasi kadar testosterone total darah dengan kemampuan visuospasial mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran universitas jenderal soedirman. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian observasional analitik dengan pendekatan belah lintang. Perekrutan subyek dilakukan dengan metode consecutive sampling. Subyek yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini adalah 37 mahasiswa dengan kriteria inklusi meliputi jenis kelamin laki-laki, usia 18-24 tahun, memiliki tingkat aktifitas fisik sedang hingga tinggi. Pengukuran kadar testosterone total darah menggunakan metode ELISA (DBC Elisa kit). Pengukuran kemampuan visuospasial menggunakan metode Design Organization Test (DOT). Uji normalitas data menggunakan uji Saphiro-Wilk dan uji korelasi pearson digunakan dengan nilai p<0,05. Subyek penelitian memiliki rerata kadar testosterone total darah yang normal, yaitu 762,56± 40,39 ng/dL dan rerata kemampuan visuospasial yang baik yaitu skor DOT 47,81 ±5,79. Hasil uji korelasi pearson menunjukkan nilai r =0,35 dan nilai p =0,03. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan terdapat korelasi positif dengan kekuatan lemah. Semakin tinggi kadar testosteron total darah, semakin tinggi kemampuan visuospasial.

Visuospatial ability is the ability to involve visual and spatial relationships between certain objects. Many biological factors that play a role in this visuospatial ability, including testosterone, which supports brain development. Increased postnatal testosterone at puberty also increases in brain development. This study aims to determine the correlation of total blood testosterone levels with the visuospatial abilities of students of the Faculty of Medicine, Jenderal Sudirman University. This research is an analytic observational study with cross sectional approach. Recruitment of subjects was done by consecutive sampling method. Subjects involved in this study were 37 students with inclusion criteria including male sex, ages 18-24 years, having moderate to high levels of physical activity. Measurement of total blood testosterone levels using the ELISA method (DBC Elisa kit). Measurement of visuospatial ability using the Design Organization Test (DOT) method. Normality test used the Saphiro-Wilk test and Pearson correlation test was used with a p value <0.05. The study subjects had a normal average total blood testosterone level, which was 762.56 ± 40.39 ng / dL and a good average of visuospatial abilities namely a DOT score of 47.81 ± 5.79. Pearson correlation test results showed the value of r = 0.35 and the value of p = 0.03. It can be concluded that there is a positive correlation with weak strength. The higher the total blood testosterone level, the higher the visuospatial ability.
